What is Electric Thermal Storage Heat?

OFF-PEAK ELECTRIC HEAT, also known as ELECTRIC THERMAL STORAGE HEATING (or ETS, for short) uses electricity purchased at night at discounted prices to heat bricks housed in insulated chambers within a specially designed ETS furnace, boiler or space heater, delivering the heat stored in the bricks to the heated space 24-7 using your existing distribution system and recharging itself again each night at the discounted price. Because an ETS heating system uses electricity at night when Concord Light has contracted for a steeply discounted rate, the utility is able to pass a significant savings on to you.
